The Living Word
The Living Word
The Bible (the Word of God) is not just a book. It is the living, breathing Word of God Himself.
Some years back, the Lord gave me a vision regarding His Word. It was a vivid vision, and one which I never forgot. However, although I remembered the entire vision in full detail, I was unable to paint what the Lord showed me. At the time I found this to be odd since the Lord always provided me with the ability and inspiration to create on canvas that which He has shown me in a vision. Yet no inspiration came. I let it go, knowing one day, in His timing, the inspiration would come in order to complete the painting. And it did.
There was a gap of about 4 or 5 years, when I received an email from a minister (whom I watched often) for a commission to do a painting for her new book cover. Surprisingly, what she wanted was almost an exact description of the vision I had years ago.
In the vision, I saw a Bible, kind of floating in space before me. As I continued to watch this Bible there, it opened up and tilted so I was looking at it from a side view perspective. Instantly words began shooting from the page of the Bible down to infinity.
I asked the Lord what this was all about and He said, " The Word of God is not just a book, it is a living and breathing extension of God Himself. Likewise, the knowledge, wisdom and inspiration is endless. A minister and spend hours on end from just two words in it, like, "Jesus wept." Even more ministers can gain inspiration from just those two words for another list of sermons, all from different perspectives. It is endless."
The bible tells us the Word of God will live forever, just as you and I shall live forever. One day this world and all that is in it shall past away. Our bodies, like the paper pages of the bible itself, shall be gone, but the spiritual aspect and content of both shall remain forever more. it is for this reason that God has said, "He will write His Word inside each of us, so that we shall have that Word for all eternity. We can begin allowing that to happen even now by allowing His Word to penetrate us within our souls, not just our ears and minds. Intimacy comes from within.
Your relationship with the Word of God will determine the relationship of His Word within you. When you pick up the Bible don't just read God's Word... experience it, live it as if you are there. Begin to picture yourself there among the crowds of people, listening first hand to Jesus on the mount, seeing Him heal the lepers in the village or feel the wind rush past you and through you in the upper room.
As you become more intimate with God's Word, it will become more intimate and meaningful to the most inner parts of us as we partake.
I finally finished the painting and commission. I knew the title had to be none other than, "The Living Word."
This is the final commissioned book cover used.
