THE MEDIC
THE MEDIC
The Medic
Many years ago, while in semi-deep conversation with the Lord, He told me this, "You consider yourself an artist, and indeed you are. However, the calling I have for you is actually a Medic." It took me by surprise, especially considering I really don't like doctors much. As I began to consider what the Lord had told me, I began to understand more of what He meant.
I am not on the front lines for the most part. I am not a missionary, or Evangelist or even a street minister. I tend more to my brothers and sisters in Christ, and focus more their needs, emotionally and spiritually. The paintings I have created for the Lord have been used primarily as 'visual ointment' if you will. The images and paintings I created comfort, support and encourage those who are on the front lines. Creating in them new vitality to go back up on the front lines once again. Some battle wounds take longer to heal than others.
Although I admire and honor those who are on the frontlines, who have become field missionaries, or many of those who are preaching each day in the streets and small villages, but that is not me, that is not the calling or placement in the Lord's army which I seek. My real calling is taking care of the wounded in battle. Those who have become discouraged or oppressed by hardships this world can dish out at times. That is where my heart lies, that is my focus, that is my calling. That is where the 'ointment' of my art is best applied.
However, that is me and my calling. What about you? Do you feel like you have missed your call? Like you have perhaps been a somewhat disappointment to God because you are not winning enough souls for Him? Well, not everyone can be a "Christian Rambo" my dear friends. May God protect and bless all those on the front lines, but that position is not all that is needed in God's Army. There are many positions open and in need of fulfillment to keep the wheels turning.
How many people believe they are too old to be effective in His Army? Unfortunately, many. However, that is most assuredly not true. One vital and much needed position in His Army is that of a Prayer Warrior. One who takes the time to go before the Lord on behalf of others. They are the strength behind the armies in action, helping the troops pressing forward into battles every day. Another honorable position open is in the way of financial support. Financial support can (and is) a huge blessing for those on the frontlines. Many of us do not have much in the way of finances, but we can give that which we are able to. Not much is need if it is multiplied by millions, and there are millions of Christians out there.
All in all, I have found that one's calling is where one is most at peace. If you are not at peace or comfortable being on the front lines, then perhaps that is not your calling. If you find it hard to give financially, then perhaps that is not your calling either. However, old or young, sick or healthy, rich or poor, everyone can pray, and prayer is the most powerful tool we can use against the enemy. Never under estimate the power of prayer nor the ability you have to pray yourself.
We are the body of Christ. Not everyone is a hand, or foot, or eyeball or even an eyelash, yet together, we make up the body of our beloved King. I have a body, you have a body, and within our bodies there are trillions of tiny cells that make up that body. If even one of those tiny cells do not do as it was meant to do, the entire body feels the effect of that negligence. We are all important, no matter the calling we have upon us. The little old lady praying in her closet may not get the standing cheers as of the frontline warrior, but it may just be her silent prayer at that given time has saved that warrior's day so that he or she could live and fight the good fight again.
(another thing here to mention - when a person prays and is connected to a warriors victory... when rewards or blessings are given out because of that victory, you shall reap the rewards as well.)
My point is this: we are all important to God and needed to fulfill His will. Not only in us, but also to fulfill His will throughout all things He wishes to complete. Even if you feel like you are not as strong in the Lord as you should be right now... just hang in there. Stay close to Him, wait upon Him to restore you once again, and then pick yourself up and continue down the path He has chosen you to take that day. Do not be discouraged or condemn yourself for not being who you believe you should be. God made you, He lives inside you. That is enough to do the work He has planned for you. You are enough, if you do not give up.
All we can do is to be the best that we can in whatever format or position God has placed us to be in. Regarding the body of Christ - if you are merely a fingernail in His body, then be the best fingernail He ver had. Who knows? Maybe one day The Lord will place a ring on that finger just to show you off to others that He has the best fingernail ever.
I will leave you with this. It was a quote by Benjamin Franklin:
For Want of a Nail
by Benjamin Franklin
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
Just remember this my dear friends, nothing is too small to be marked as unimportant... because truthfully... nothing is.
